My name is Alex. I was born and raised in Munich, Germany. After studying directing at film school, a short film project brought me to Athens for the first time in 2013, during the financial crisis. Everything I had seen about Athens in the media until then had given me the notion I was dealing with a rather dangerous place, but contrary to that, Athens & The Athenians embraced me and I fell in love with the city at first sight. Since 2015 I live permanently in Athens.
The first door.
I remember taking a lot of photos of street art in the beginning. But then, one day, Luke, may his soul rest in peace, lent me the bicycle of his daughter. I took a lot of photos on this day. I photographed a graffiti with a door next to it and framed the door in the middle. I also had realized by then that the doors were different than from where I came from. Ever since, I keep an eye out for beautiful doors in and around Athens and everywhere I go.
The project.
Subsequently I started the project doors of Athens in early 2015. The instagram and facebook pages have grown a lot since then. I want to thank everyone who has helped and supported the project so far! The journey goes on!
